The summer sun has disappeared and that can only mean one thing at Kings Barbers Club – we are gearing up for Movember. The coolest charity event of the year is back and it looks set to be bigger than ever. Are you ready to grow a bushy number on your top lip and help the fight against prostate cancer in the process? Then enjoy your last month of baby smooth skin, because this is about to get hairy.

For the uninitiated – Movember is a charitable event that can trace its origins back to 2004 in Melbourne Australia when 30 men grew moustaches for 30 days throughout November. Participants would seek sponsorship and donate this money towards raising the awareness of prostate cancer in men and related depression. The charity has since skyrocketed and is now observed in 21 different countries having raised more than £108m in total. With more than half of that total amount being raised in 2012, it is clear that Movember is growing at a massive rate and 2013 could be the biggest yet.

The heads of the organisation have dubbed themselves Generation Moustache and are looking to recruit more members. Whether you have participated for the past 8 years or are a moustache newbie, your effort and contribution will be more than welcome.

Kings Barbers Club have long participated and helped charitable individuals participate in this worthy cause. Last year’s Movember saw members of the Birmingham City FC squad visit our designer barbers for a little added care for their moustaches. This year Kings plans to go bigger and better than ever before with a wide range of surprise Movember activities planned.

Last year saw a large number of celebrities ditch their razors and grow charitable moustaches including Theo Walcott, Leighton Baines and unforgettably Match of the Day’s handlebar moustachioed Michael Owen.

So if you want to help out a great charity and have a little bit of fun this November join the Movember cause on the website at the bottom of the page and make sure you check out all of the activities held by Kings Barbers Club throughout the month. This is especially important for first time moustache growers who may not be acclimatised to the steady-handed skill of moustache trimming – we don’t want you to lose you tache on the 15th day of Movember.
