Movember in Birmingham

Movember and Kings Barbers Club are helping the stylish menfolk of Birmingham show their support for charity next month. Thousands of moustachioed men of the second city will be proudly sharing their hairy wares with passers-by from November 1st and throughout the month.

This year Kings Barbers Club in Birmingham are offering those who contribute to the worthy Movember cause a free shave on Friday 30th November.

Furthermore all participants will receive 25% off all services throughout the month and the winner of the best moustache will be awarded Three Kings Barbers Club Ultimate Grooming Packages. These grooming packages include a king’s cut, a hot towel shave and eye brow tidying & threading. The runners-up will be awarded one ultimate grooming package each.

Movember is a charity devoted to raising awareness for sufferers of prostate and testicular cancer. The charity aims to encourage men to make annual health trips to their doctors to ascertain whether or not they are afflicted by the cancers.

The cause was founded in Melbourne, Australia in 2004 when a group of 30 men grew their moustaches for the 30 days of November in order to raise awareness of depression in men and prostate cancer.

Last year hundreds of thousands of men participated in the event all over the world. The worldwide popularity borne from its simplicity and intention continues to grow year after year; 2012 promises to be biggest Movember ever. Since its inception Movember has raised over £108m worldwide, helping innumerate men discover cancer early and receive the necessary treatment.

Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer in UK men, affecting one in nine. The risk of contracting it grows with age, with those over 50 most at risk. Over 37,000 men are diagnosed with it every year. Over 2,000 men every year are diagnosed with testicular cancer.
